Eagles In Fifth Place After Day One at Puerto Rico Shootout

Cynthia Zhang leads BC with a first round 71 (-1)
HUMACAO, P.R. -- Boston College sits in fifth place through the first 18 holes of play at the Puerto Rico Shootout.
The Eagles finished seven-over as a team after round one, with a team score of 295. Southern Miss and UNC Greensboro are tied atop the team leaderboard, with a score of 287.
Leading the way for BC after day one is Cynthia Zhang, who is tied for sixth place with a 1-under score of 71. Zhang played a nearly flawless round, carding two birdies and 15 pars to only one bogey.
Stephany Kim is tied for 17th after round one. She carded four straight birdies on the back nine - between holes 11-14 - finishing with a 1-over 73. Emily Böhrer is tied for 30th place, after an opening round 75. She made birdies on the par 4 1st and par 5 16th.
A trio of Eagles - Frances Kim, Angel Lin, and Ana Lucia Trevino - are tied for 38th (76). Kim posted two birdies on day one, while Lin registered three. Trevino, competing as an individual, recorded four first-day birdies.
BC continues in the Puerto Rico Shootout tomorrow, beginning with a 7:30 a.m. ET shotgun start. The Eagles will begin on holes 4-7, playing along side Ball State and Middle Tennessee.
