CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Boston College Women's Golf team concluded the first day of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, Friday afternoon, and heads into day two tied for second-place (-5). The Eagles are just one stroke behind the lead and are ahead of five top 15-ranked teams, including No. 1 Wake Forest.
Frances Kim continued to shine as she shot a 4-under par 67 with five birdies to begin the tournament. Kim finished the first round shooting par seven consecutive times. She heads into day two tied for second place.
Joyce Zhang goes into the second day of the tournament tied for 10th-place, as she shot a 1-under-par 70. Zhang tallied three birdies in round one. Junior Juliette Demeaux also shot a 70 to begin her final invitational of the fall season. She finished with two birdies and shot par 15 times in the round.
Rebecca Gyllner finished the first round tied for 24th-place, shooting a 1-over-par 72 and recorded four birdies. Jun Xi Guo shot a 4-over-par 75 with two birdies, being on the 10th and 15th holes. The freshman is tied for 50th place.
The Eagles sit first on Par-4 and tied for third on Par-5 holes, while also being tied for second on total times shooting par. Boston College will begin to tee off tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 17 at 10:40 a.m. on hole one.
