
Lacrosse Wins Red Bandanna Game Over Pitt

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's lacrosse picked up an 18-6 win over Pittsburgh in the Red Bandanna Game on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles improve to 13-0 and 6-0 in the league, while Pittsburgh falls to 6-6 and 1-5 in the ACC.
Elizabeth Kirk was recognized with Welles Crowther's family as the Red Bandanna recipient before the game.Â
The defense registered 11 caused turnovers with four tallying two. Lydia Colasante finished the game with two CTs, four draw controls, a team-high three ground balls, and one score.Â
Shea Baker led the way with eight draw controls with two caused turnovers. Along with Abbey Herod (five draw controls) and Colasante, the Eagles registered a 20-6 draw control advantage. Devon Russell also posted two caused turnovers with one goal and two ground balls.
Shea Dolce netted seven saves in the win with one caused turnover.
BC got off to a 2-0 start when Mia Mascone found Rachel Clark for both scores. Pitt responded with a goal of its own, leading to a 2-1 advantage for the Eagles after the first.
Kylee Colbert started a 4-0 run in the second period with her first score of the game. BC held a 6-1 lead until the Panthers netted two straight to slice the deficit in half. Emma LoPinto gave BC an 8-3 halftime lead with two consecutive goals.
The Eagles continued their momentum in the second half, building an eight-goal lead in the third after a Colasante score. BC's largest lead came at the end of the contest when Mallory Hasselbeck scored at the buzzer, giving hosts the 12-goal triumph and a 21st straight victory.
LoPinto carded a season-high eight points with five goals and three assists, while Mckenna Davis dished out five assists with one tally and six points. Clark scored five goals, with four coming in the first half and Colbert was the third Eagle with a hat trick, registering a career-high three goals with one draw control.Â
BC returns to action next Saturday at 11 a.m. against No. 2 UNC on ESPNU.
