Kyle Wolff's Five RBI Lifts Eagles Over Merrimack

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College Baseball (7-6, 2-1 ACC) took down Merrimack (3-12-1, 2-1 MAAC) in the 2025 home opener, winning 10-5 on Tuesday evening.

The Eagles opened the scoring in the first, with Jack Toomey bringing Kyle Wolff home on an RBI triple. Vince Cimini singled to center field to make it 2-0 after the opening inning. Kyle Kipp started on the mound for the Eagles, and delivered two perfect innings, facing the minimum with one strikeout. After adding one in the third, the Eagles carried a 3-0 lead into the fifth inning. JD Ogden relieved Kipp on the mound and picked up where he left off, tossing two scoreless frames with three strikeouts and just one hit allowed. Gavin Soares took over at pitcher in the fifth, striking out three of the four batters he faced to hang another zero on the scoreboard.

BC added three in their half of the fifth, with Nathanael Frederking and Josiah Ragsdale drawing walks, and Kyle Wolff bringing both home on a two-RBI single to left-center. Wolff came around to score on a wild pitch, extending the BC lead to 6-0. Merrimack struck for five in the top of the sixth, making it a one-run game. Eric Schroeder entered at pitcher and settled things down, retiring the side in order in the 7th and 8th to preserve the 6-5 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Kyle Wolff extended the Eagles' lead with his team-leading fourth home run of the season, a three-run blast to make it 10-5, where the score would remain. Eric Schroeder closed the game for BC, earning the win (1-2).

The Eagles will hit the road again for a three-game set at Florida State this weekend.
