BLACKSBURG, Va. - Boston College women's lacrosse showcased a dominating 21-5 triumph against Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles move to 6-0 and 2-0 in ACC play, extending their win streak to 14 games dating back to last season. VT falls to 5-2 and 1-1 in the league.
It was a stellar outing on both sides of the field for the Eagles. The duo of Emma LoPinto and Rachel Clark combined for 14 points with five goals and two assists apiece.
Lydia Colasante netted three caused turnovers with three ground balls and four draw controls. Shea Dolce turned in her best performance of the season with 11 saves.
Abbey Herod carded seven draw controls, leading a draw team that held a 19-8 draw advantage. Shea Baker netted five draw controls with one ground ball.
The Eagles didn't waste any time in getting off to a fast start, as they jumped out to a 7-3 lead after the opening period.
Five different Eagles scored the first five goals to claim a 5-1 edge, while Maria Themelis and Clark each scored two in the first period.
A 9-0 surge in the second quarter put the game away, as BC went into the half with a commanding 16-3 advantage. The Eagles cruised to the 16-goal victory, scoring 20-plus for the fourth time in six games.
Six players scored multiple goals in the win, while BC totaled 17 ground balls.
The Eagles return home on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. against Dartmouth at Newton Lacrosse Field. The game is open to the public.
