Lacrosse Routs UMass in Wednesday Contest

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse showcased a dominant performance in a 22-5 victory over UMass on Wednesday evening in Fish Field House.Â
The Eagles have won 12 straight dating back to last season, improving to 4-0. UMass falls to 0-2 on the year.Â
BC scored 20-plus goals for the third time in four games while owning the draw battle, 22-6. Shea Baker netted a career-high eight draw controls with two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Lydia Colasante posted a personal-high six draw controls and one CT. Devon Russell recorded three draw controls with one ground ball.Â
Emily English stepped up in the cage in the second half with a career-high nine saves and a .750 save percentage.Â
The Eagles took control thanks to a 15-0 run after leading UMass 3-2 late in the first quarter. Six different Eagles scored multiple times during the run, leading to an 18-2 first-half score, highlighted by a Colasante heave to Mckenna Davis for a buzzer-beating goal.
Boston College cruised in the second half, while Kelly Blake scored her first collegiate goal. Emma LoPinto scored one of the four second-half goals and Brooke McLoy capped off the evening with two fourth-period goals.Â
Rachel Clark paced the offense with six goals and seven points thanks to one assist, tying a season best. Mia Mascone posted a season-best with six points (two goals, four assists).Â
LoPinto carded six points with four scores and two helpers, while Davis tallied five points with a hat trick and two assists. Molly Driscoll continues her momentum with three goals and one helper, equaling four points.Â
The Eagles return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. against No. 21 Duke in the ACC opener inside Fish Field House.Â
