Track & Field Sets Four School Records at Eagle Elite Invitational

Boston College competes at the Eagle Elite Invitational on Friday at the TRACK at new balance.
BOSTON, Mass. – Boston College Track & Field earned four school records and five top-10 finishes as the Eagles hosted and competed at the Eagle Elite Invitational on Friday at the TRACK at new balance.Â
Steven Jackson, Theodor Schucht, Anna Sonsini, and the Men's 4x400m relay team all earned school record times in their events, as the Eagles took on some of the top teams in the country throughout the day on Friday.
Anna Sonsini started off the day strong for Eagles as she earned seventh place in the Women's 60m dash prelims with a time of 7.65. Sonsini's time put her at No. 1 all-time in the school's record book. Sonsini later went on to finish seventh in the 60m dash finals, running again to a time of 7.65.
Freshman Theodor Schucht and senior Will Purnell both made Boston College Men's and Women's Track & Field history on Friday afternoon, as they became the first ever runners to earn sub 14 minutes in the 5000m. Schucht earned the school record and the meet record with his time of 13:46.71, while Purnell also earned a meet record and sits at No. 2 all-time with his time of 13:53.08.Â
Steven Jackson continued his impressive season in the Men's Mile, breaking his previous school record by 2 seconds. Jackson finished first overall in the Men's Mile with his time of 3:52.71, and currently sits at No. 7 in the NCAA.
The Men's 4x400m relay team consisting of Max McQuide, Colin Kravitz, Max Deane, and Jay Joyce ran to a school record time of 3:12.65, while the Women's 4x400m relay team of Anna Becker, Anna Sonsini, Kylee Bernard, and Kyla Palmer now sit at No. 2 all-time with their time of 3:41.13.
Eddie Kelly and Owen Pett finished first and second respectively in the Men's 800m. Kelly (1:50.65) now sits at No. 6 all-time in school history, while Pett (1:50.67) moves up to No. 7 all-time.Â
Abby Loveys crossed the finish line in eighth place in the Women's 3000m with her time of 9:15.75. Loveys moved herself up into the top-10, and now sits at No. 8 all-time in school history.Â
Abi Peterson and Sophie Albright both earned a mark of 1.61m in the Women's High Jump, while Morgan Champi finished with a mark of 15.90m in the Women's Weight Throw.Â
The following Eagles earned ACC qualifying times: Abby Loveys (3000m), Abby Lewis (3000m), Owen Pett (800m), Eddie Kelly (800m), Theodor Schucht (5000m), Will Purnell (5000m), Patrick Donnelly (5000m), Cruz Brown (Mile), Colin Shaver (Mile), Men's and Women's 4x400m relays.Â
Up next: The Eagles will compete at the Terrier DMR Challenge on Feb. 21 at the BU Track & Tennis Center, before ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.Â
