Eagles' Thurin Nominated for Broyles Award

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College Football Special Teams Coordinator/Safeties Coach Matt Thurin has been named a nominee for the 30th Broyles Award, The Frank and Barbara Broyles Foundation announced Tuesday.Â
The Broyles Award honors college football's top assistant coaches.Â
Under Thurin's guidance, redshirt junior kicker Luca Lombardo is one of three remaining kickers in the country with a perfect field goal percentage, making all 14 of his field goal attempts and adding 31 extra points on 31 attempts this season. In addition, sophomore safety Omar Thornton has forced five fumbles this season, which ranks fifth nationally and second in the ACC. Junior safety KP Price is averaging five solo tackles per game through 11 games, ranking fourteenth nationally and at the top of the ACC.Â
The 63 nominees in this year's class were selected from approximately 1,500 assistant coaches representing 131 FBS programs across the country. This is the largest group of nominees in the history of the Broyles Award. The Broyles Award selection committee is made of former hall of fame coaches, members of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), and legendary broadcasters. The selection committee will vote to advance 15 semifinalists, five finalists, and one overall winner.Â
The Broyles Award winner will be announced live at the 30th Annual Broyles Award Ceremony on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Oaklawn in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
