Eagles hold controlled scrimmage on Saturday morning
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The 2026 Boston College Football program took the field Saturday morning for its ninth practice of the spring window. Gregory P. Barber '69 and Family Head Coach Bill O'Brien ran the Eagles through their first controlled scrimmage of the spring.
"Today was more of a game-like scrimmage. There were a lot of things that popped up that we have to correct on film, but we're trending in the right direction," said Coach O'Brien, who met with the media after practice along with redshirt junior center Michael Crounse and redshirt sophomore defensive end and Georgia transfer Kris Jones.
The defense set the tone early in Saturday's scrimmage, with Bodie Kahoun, Onye Nwosisi, and Zacari Thomas each recording a tackle for loss on the opening drive. Colgate transfer Reed Swanson sparked the offense with an acrobatic tip-drill catch in traffic, but sophomore defensive back Rae Sykes Jr. capped the drive with an interception.
Freshman running back Sedric Addison helped push the offense into another gear on the second drive of the day, breaking off a significant gain on a swing pass before adding yardage on the ground the following play. The running game built on that momentum several plays later, as Evan Dickens and Bo MacCormack III each found the end zone on runs of 30-plus yards.
The Eagles defense responded on the ensuing drive, with Nwosisi and Kris Jones applying pressure in the backfield. Sophomore Marcus Upton followed with a pass breakup over the middle.
On the offense's final drive of the day, redshirt sophomore tight end Danny Edgehille was active in the passing game, recording a pair of receptions to move the chains. The play of the day came from Arkansas transfer quarterback Grayson Wilson, who connected with Swanson on a 25-yard touchdown pass to the corner pylon.
The Eagles will hold their 10th practice of the spring on Monday morning. Practices are closed to the public.
