Eagles Stand Tall Against UNH in Home Victory
October 19, 2025 | Field Hockey
Newton, Mass. - Boston College (5-9, 0-6 ACC) exploded offensively on Sunday afternoon, earning an 8-2 victory over the University of New Hampshire (7-6) in non-conference play. The Eagles' eight-goal performance marked their highest single-game total since 2016, when they tallied eight against Northeastern.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board, as Maeve Seeger converted off a penalty corner less than a minute into the match. BC carried that momentum throughout the first half, with freshman Alex De Cain striking twice and goalkeeper Carine Van Wiechen making four key saves to send the Eagles into halftime with a 3-0 advantage.
Boston College broke the game wide open in the third quarter, netting four goals in under four minutes. Madeline Leigh started the flurry off a corner, assisted by Seeger. Less than a minute later, Melea Weber and Eva Kluskens combined for another score. Madelieve Drion added a solo effort in the 38th minute before Sophia Sisco capped the dominant quarter to push the lead to 7-0.
Kluskens notched her second goal early in the fourth to make it 8-0 before UNH responded with a pair of late goals to close out the contest.
BC also combined for 21 total points as the Eagles had the advantages in shots (32-15), shots on goal (19-11), and penalty corners (14-7) with van Wiechen finishing with six saves in the cage.
