
No. 17 Eagles Fall to No. 4 Terrapins in First Game of ACC/Big Ten Challenge

The Eagles look to regroup ahead of Sunday's matchup against No. 1 Northwestern
Evanston, Ill. - No. 17 Boston College fell to No. 4 ranked Maryland 2-0 on Friday afternoon in Evanston. The Eagles move to 2-1 on the season, while the Terrapins improve to 3-0.Â
The Terrapins got off to a hot start, as Ella Gaitan found the back of the cage just 1:40 into the game. The remainder of the first half would go back and forth, with both teams trading chances and each earning a penalty corner. In the third quarter, Maya Everett added another for the Terrapins, making it 2-0.Â
The fourth quarter was the strongest for BC, as they were awarded four penalty corners and out-shot the Terrapins 5-0. Charlotte Kramer had four saves, while Alyssa Klebasko notched five. Peyton Hale led the Eagles with two shots on goal, both coming from penalty corners. The Terrapins had the edge in shots (11-9) and shots on goal (6-5), while the Eagles had the edge in penalty corners (5-1).
The Eagles are back in action on Sunday at 4 p.m. as they take on the No. 1 Wildcats of Northwestern at Lakeside field in Evanston, Ill., live on Big Ten Plus.
