BC begins a month long road stretch, starting at the Fairfield Invitational Tournament
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College volleyball team begins its month-long road stretch this weekend heading to Fairfield Conn. for the Fairfield Invitational Tournament. The Eagles begin the weekend facing Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 before a doubleheader with Central Connecticut State at 11:00 a.m. and Binghamton at 6:00Â p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Boston College opened its season 3-0 at the BC Invitational Tournament. The Eagles defeated Texas Tech (3-0), Eastern Kentucky (3-1), and Iona (3-0). The team hit a .284 clip, averaging 14.30 kills and 20.20 points per set.Â
Sophomore Audrey Ross led the offensive effort for the Eagles, tallying a team-best 44.5 points and 41 kills over the opening weekend. Sophia Lambros led with 53 assists over the weekend. Defensively, graduate student Morgan Riddle and senior Julia Haggerty took the spotlight as Riddle put up 37 digs and Haggerty had 23 blocks.Â
Fairfield and Binghamton began their season 1-2. The Stags opened their season defeating Southeastern Louisiana but falling to both High Point and #16 BYU. Maya Walker led the offensive effort, tallying 13 kills and 15.5 points against Southeastern Louisiana. Mikayla Haut tallied 21 digs while Walker recorded five blocks.Â
Similarly, the Bearcats find themselves with a 1-2 record following opening weekend. Binghamton topped Merrimack but fell to Toledo and Bucknell. Hannah Webber led the Bearcats with 10 kills and added six digs. Lauryn Mattiucci led the defense with 11 digs adding on one service ace. Â
The Blue Devils began their season with a 0-2 record, falling in their first tournament of the season to Coppin St. and Niagara. Lauren Milani added 18 kills and 24.5 points throughout the opening weekend.Â
The Eagles continue on the road following the Fairfield Invitational Tournament, flying South to take on Jacksonville, Georgia, and Utah Valley at the Bulldog Classic next weekend.
