Record seventh all-time win and sweep over the Bobcats

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Volleyball team (2-0, 0-0 ACC) completed a weekend sweep of the Chestnut Hill Invite, as they took down Quinnipiac (0-2, 0-0 Metro) 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-20) Sunday afternoon at the Margot Connell Center.

The victory over the Bobcats marks the seventh all-time in program history, continuing the streak of sweeping each of the seven meetings. The Eagles also extend a six-year streak of winning the season's first two matches, dating back to 2021.

Audrey Ross led the game with 15 kills on a .375 hitting percentage, finishing the contest with 16 points. Ava McBride logged a game-best 20 assists in just her second career start, while Sofija Marjanovic recorded three service aces. Brooklyn Yelland's 11 digs led all players, and freshmen Ava Castro, Tiani Shaw and Mia Gold all made their collegiate debuts.

Boston College opened the first set aggressively, grabbing the first three points. The visitors responded with a 4-0 run to bring the score to 8-7 and force a timeout from the hosts. Both sides traded kills before Ross grabbed her third kill to give the Eagles a 15-14 edge into the media timeout. Out of the break, Sam Hoppes and Reese Dunkle responded with back-to-back kills to give BC a three-point lead and force the Bobcats to take a timeout. Despite a three-point run from Quinnipiac to close the gap, the hosts claimed the final three rallies behind a Ross kill and multiple blocks from Naomi Watson, winning the opening set 25-20.

The Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead to start the second set with back-to-back aces from Marjanovic and back-to-back kills from Ross. The Bobcats answered, outscoring the hosts 15-8 to take a lead into the media timeout. Aftwewards, Hoppes and Dunkle led the way with kills, as both teams went back and forth following the break. Down 19-20, Marjanovic and Ross used emphatic kills to spark a four-point run and take a 23-20 lead. Boston College closed the door by forcing an attack error and another Ross kill to take the set, 25-20.

The final saw the Eagles take the first two points and not look back, extending the lead to as large as 20-9. The run saw Ross record four kills, while Laney Blevins earned two and Ava Castro logged her first collegiate kill. Quinnipiac attempted a late charge, bringing the score to within six points. But, Boston College prevailed, finishing the game with a 25-17 final set to earn the sweep.
