Volleyball Sweeps Air Force 3-0 in Season Opener

Audrey Ross logs a career game-high 24 kills in victory
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Volleyball (1-0, 0-0 ACC) opened its 2026 campaign with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-22, 25-13) over Air Force (0-1, 0-0 MW) Friday night in the Margot Connell Center.
This win over Air Force marks the first victory ever in program history.
Audrey Ross recorded a career game-high 24 kills, adding 26 points. Sofija Marjanovic and Laney Blevins both logged six kills. Lucy Mott and Ava McBride set up the offense effectively, logging a combined 33 assists. Naomi Watson also shined, leading the team with three blocks in her first career start.
The opening set was tight before Boston College jumped ahead, using a six-point swing to grab a 10-3 lead. Air Force battled back to within two points to force a timeout from the Eagles. Ross responded with her sixth and seventh kills to halt the run, followed by back-to-back kills from Marjanovic to reclaim a 22-18 edge. The hosts saw out the set with kills from Blevins and Ross to win 25-18.
Boston College grabbed an early lead in the second set, but Air Force responded with 11 unanswered points to take a 15-13 advantage into the media timeout. The visitors continued, racking up the first three points out of the media timeout. The Eagles answered with kills from Sam Hoppes, Reese Dunkle, Blevins and Marjanovic to level the set at 19-19. Experience prevailed in crunch time, as the senior pairing of Ross and Hoppes combined for four of the final six points to earn a 25-22 win in the second set.
The third and final set saw Boston College jump out with a 9-3 lead behind four kills from Ross, forcing the visitors to take a timeout. After taking a 15-8 lead into the media timeout, the Eagles sparked a 6-1 run to take a double-digit lead, highlighted by Watson's back-to-back kills. The evening was capped off with a service ace from Brooklyn Yelland, giving the Eagles a 25-13 set and sweeping the Falcons on opening night.
