BC Falls in Three Sets to Utah Valley

Eagles Fall in Final Game of the Classic City Clash
ATHENS, Ga.- The Boston College volleyball team wrapped up day two of the Classic City Clash, falling to Utah Valley in three sets.Â
Sophomore Halle Schroder tallied a match-high 15 kills while sophomore Audrey Ross followed adding on nine kills, hitting a .333 clip. Graduate student Sophia Lambros put up a double-double of 14 assists and 10 digs. The Eagles combined for six blocks as a team, with Julia Haggerty earning a solo block in the effort. Â
How it Happened
Set 1- The Eagles jumped to a quick lead to open the match, 3-2. The Wolverines answered on a 8-1 run, to take the lead 13-6. Utah Valley found multiple three-point runs to up their score, 19-9. The Eagles would only put up five points with a kills from Schroder, Ross and Layne while the Wolverines found 6 to capture the first set.
Set 2- BC made their way to a 5-1 lead to begin the match, the Wolverines went on a 7-0 run to take a 8-5 lead. Both teams responded by trading two-point runs. BC fought back on a 5-1 run within three of the Wolverines. An error, a kill from Ross, and an ace from Lambros put the Eagles down by one, 23-22. The Wolverines tallied the last two points of the set to take the set; 25-22.Â
Set 3- Utah Valley began the final set of the match taking an early 4-0 advantage, Herrington added a kill before a three point UVU run. The teams split the next six points before the Wolverines took another three points to up their score to, 15-7. The Eagles pulled within three points with a kill from back-to-back kills from Ross and one from Schroder. The Wolverines finished the match claiming set point, 25-21.Â
