
Eagles Battle No. 13 Fighting Irish to the Brink

Ava Lung scored twice for the Eagles.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's soccer pushed No. 13 Notre Dame to the brink in a hard-fought 2-2 draw on Thursday evening in the ACC opener.
The Eagles picked up their first tie against Notre Dame. The two goals are the most BC has been able to get by the Fighting Irish since 2003 when BC picked up its only win in the series.
Wiebke Willebrandt totaled eight saves in a stellar outing.
Ava Lung broke the scoreless tie in the 33rd minute of the contest after her shot at the top of the 18 found the back of the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead and momentum. Lung quickly found BC's second goal of the night off a pass from Sydney Segall in the 34th minute. The Fighting Irish countered the Eagle's attack with their own goal in the 36th minute of the game. Boston College held a 2-1 lead after the first 45 minutes of play.
The second half saw a back-and-forth battle between both sides. Notre Dame broke through in the 87th minute with the equalizer to end the match all knotted up at 2-2.
The Eagle continues ACC play on the road against SMU on Sunday kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The match will air live on the ACC Network.
