Eagles drop a close battle to new ACC opponent SMU
DALLAS, Texas. - Boston College women's soccer suffered a 1-0 setback on Sunday afternoon to the new ACC opponent SMU.
The Eagles fall to 7-2-1 on the season, while SMU improves to 6-3.
It was another defensive battle in the first half, as the Eagles and Mustangs went into the break tied, 0-0.
SMU broke the tie early into the second frame after a Sammy Nieves penalty shot hit the crossbar and Mackenzie Rudden buried the rebound in the net.
Boston College came up with multiple opportunities in the second half, as six of their nine shots came in the final 45.
Sydney Segalla led four Eagles who tallied a shot, delivering an attempt on target. Boston College held a 7-2 edge in corners. Georgina Clarke, Grace Courter and Aislin Streicek tallied a shot as well.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday against Grambling State at 7 p.m. in search of their eighth win of the season.
