BURLINGTON, Vt. – Five goals powered a dominant offensive performance as the Boston College women's soccer team defeated Vermont, 5-1, on Thursday night at Virtue Field, giving head coach Chris Watkins his 100th career win.

Emily Mara and Nicolette Kiorpes each scored twice, while Georgina Clarke added a goal as the Eagles improved to 5-0-0 on the season.

Mara opened the scoring just 2:52 into the match, finishing off an assist from Alex Schoenstadt to give the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.

Kiorpes doubled the lead in the 13th minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Mara. Just under three minutes later, Clarke extended the advantage to 3-0 with an assist from Sophie Reale.

Vermont cut into the deficit in the 27th minute when Eleni Stowell scored an unassisted goal, but the Eagles responded with two more goals in the second half to pull away.

Kiorpes added her second goal of the night in the 62nd minute, with Mara and Ashley Roberts earning assists on the play. Mara capped the scoring in the 67th minute with her second goal of the game.

The Eagles controlled the match from start to finish, holding a 13-8 advantage in shots and putting 10 shots on target compared with three for the Catamounts. Boston College also held 54 percent of possession.

Faith Fenwick and Olivia Shippee split time in goal, with Fenwick making two saves in the first half before Shippee entered after halftime for her first minutes of the season. The Eagles held Vermont to just three shots on target.

With the victory, Watkins earned his 100th career win as the Eagles improved to 5-0-0 on the season.
