Late Goal from Ekeland Gives Men’s Soccer First Win of 2024

Ekeland broke the tie in the 73rd minute
NEWTON, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer picked up its first win of the 2024 season with a 2-1 victory over Dartmouth on Friday night in non-conference action at the Newton Soccer Complex. Moritz Gundelach and Ask Ekeland both tallied goals for the Eagles.
BC improves to 1-0-2 on the season while Dartmouth drops to 0-1-0.
With the game tied at 1-1 late in the second half, Ekeland scored his third goal of the campaign to put the Eagles ahead with a header off a cross from Michael Asare.
Boston College had opened the scoring early into the contest when Gundelach found the back of the net in the seventh minute. Max Andrews played a left-footed cross to the back post where Gundelach struck it first time out of the air into the top right corner for his first collegiate goal, giving BC a 1-0 lead. Jack Burkhardt also picked up an assist on the play.
Dartmouth tied the game midway through the first half when Vasilis Moiras put home a header from a cross by Phineas Callahan.
BC controlled much of the game, finishing with a 7-1 shots on goal advantage along with seven corner kicks to the Big Green's three.
The Eagles hit the road for the first time in 2024 on Sunday afternoon, taking on Merrimack at 3 p.m.
