Men’s Soccer Ties Providence, 1-1

Marco Dos Santos scored his first collegiate goal
NEWTON, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer played to a 1-1 draw against Providence in non-conference action on Monday night at the Newton Soccer Complex. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead early in the contest but the Friars tied things up in the second half.
BC is now 0-0-2 on the season while Providence sits at 1-0-1.
Marco Dos Santos opened the scoring in the 12th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Xavier O'Neil shifted his way through the Providence defense, firing a shot from just outside the box that hit off the post. The rebound fell perfectly to Dos Santos for the first-time shot into the back of the net for his first collegiate goal.
The Friars equalized midway through the second half after finding the back of the net in the 64th minute. Vasco Teixeira crossed the ball in from the left wing towards the back post to Aidan Davock, who brought it down and was able to tuck a shot inside the near post.
Both teams had several additional chances as shots on goal finished 7-5 in favor of Providence. Brennan Klein turned away numerous crosses into the box, including from seven corners from the Friars.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday night at 7 p.m. against Dartmouth.
