Ekeland Scores Twice as Men’s Soccer Ties Iona 2-2

BC scored both goals in the first half
NEWTON, Mass. – Boston College men's soccer opened the 2024 season on Thursday evening, playing to a 2-2 draw against Iona. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead into halftime, but the Gaels struck twice in the second half to even the game.
Ask Ekeland opened the scoring in the third minute with his first goal for the Eagles, firing a shot from 25 yards out that knuckled its way into the top corner.
BC doubled the lead in the 38th minute of play when Ekeland tallied his second goal of the night, also coming from just inside the box. Marci Killeen picked up his first point of the season with a back-heel assist that set up Ekeland for the first-time strike.
The Gaels cut into the deficit in the 61st minute before finding the equalizer in the 67th minute.
BC held the edge in shots on goal, 6-5. Christian Bejar and Max Andrews both picked up an assist on the night to earn their first points of the season.
The Eagles return to action on Monday at 5:30 p.m. against Providence.
