
Three Eagles Selected in 2024 Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse Draft

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Three Boston College women's lacrosse players were picked in the fourth annual Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft on Wednesday evening.Â
Scales was picked fourth overall and was the first defender taken in the draft, while Belle Smith was called at 10 and Cassidy Weeks was selected at 15.  BC had the most picks in the 16-player draft, and the trio will join the likes of Sam Apuzzo, Dempsey Arsenault, Kenzie Kent, Charlotte North and Courtney Taylor.Â
Scales anchors the third-lowest scoring defense in the country and helped BC to its second straight ACC title. She helped the defense allow just 20 goals in the three victories, leading to be named the ACC's Most Outstanding Player. She leads the way with 33 caused turnovers and 34 ground ball. An All-ACC selection and back-to-back Defender of the Year, Scales was recently named Eagle of the Year and is a top-25 Tewaaraton Finalist.Â
Smith heads into the second round of the NCAA Tournament with 37 goals, 14 assists, 51 points, 19 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and a career-high 39 draw controls. The two-way middy is the only player in the ACC to post at least 35 goals, 10 assists, 15 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and 35 draw controls. The New York native won ACC Midfielder of the Year for a second straight season and is a top 25 Tewaaraton finalist. She was also named ACC All-First Team and to the ACC All-Tournament Team.
Weeks is having a career season for the Eagles with a personal-high 34 goals, 43 points, and a team and career-high 59 draw controls with nine assists. The midfielder was named an All-ACC First Team selection and to the All-ACC Tournament Team. She has five hat tricks, seven games with at least three points and four games with at least five draw controls.Â
After coming off a 16-3 season with a second straight ACC title, the Eagles head into the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed with a first-round bye. BC faces the winner of Princeton/Drexel on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Alumni Stadium. Fans can buy tickets for the first and second round HERE.Â
