Homestand continues next weekend vs. Maryland
Game One
A.J. Colarusso (Leominster, Mass.) got the start in the series opener on Thursday and struck out six over 5.1 innings, letting up eight and taking the loss (3-6). Sebastian Gongora earned the win (5-3) for Louisville.
Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.) and Parker Landwehr (Baltimore, Md.) got the scoring started for the Eagles in the 7th, with Cimini knocking an RBI single to right field and Landwehr following with an RBI double. After Adam Magpoc (Torrance, Ca.) added a third run-scoring hit, Cameron Leary (Bethpage, N.Y.) struck, driving a grand slam over the right field fence, his team-leading 13th home run of the season to cut the deficit to 8-7. The Cardinals hung a four-spot in the eighth to pull away, going up 12-7 where the score would remain.
Game Two
John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) got the start and turned in a dominant performance, tossing seven innings of two-run ball, striking out four with just one walk. West was tagged with the loss (1-3). Adam Magpoc and Sam McNulty (Cambridge, Mass.) both turned in multi-hit days at the plate.
Game Three
Michael Farinelli (New York, N.Y.) got the nod in the series finale and turned in a strong start, going 6.1 innings, with six hits and two earned runs, striking out three and walking one. Farinelli picked up the loss (0-5).
Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) opened the scoring in the sixth, driving in Barry Walsh (Sterling, Mass.) from second base after he reached scoring position on a stolen base. The Cardinals extended their lead to 5-1 in the eighth, and it would have been more if not for Barry Walsh who made a sensational diving catch in center field with runners on. Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.) logged a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to pull one back, but the score would hold at 5-3.
The Eagles' homestand continues, hosting Maryland for a weekend series starting Saturday, May 11 at 5:00 p.m.
