Eagles Earn National Recognition by IWLCA & Inside Lacrosse

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's lacrosse was well represented on the IWLCA All-Northeast Region Team and the Inside Lacrosse All-American list, as both publications announced yesterday.Â
Eight Eagles were recognized by IWLCA and are eligible to be named to the IWLCA All-American Team. The seven players selected as an ILWomen All-American are the most on the list by one school. BC is coming off a 14-9 win over Michigan in the quarterfinals, and will face Syracuse next Friday, May 24 at 5:30 p.m. in Cary. Â
Rachel Clark | First Team All-Northeast Region | First Team All-American
Clark leads the Eagles with 71 goals and 89 points, while she leads the ACC in goals and is third in the league in points. She was named a First-Team All-ACC member and a top-25 Tewaaraton finalist. The Devon, Pa. native earned ACC All-Tournament honors and was named ACC Player of the Week earlier this season. She has 16 hat tricks and 11 games with at least five points. Clark led the Eagles with five points in the NCAA quarterfinal win over Michigan.Â
Sydney Scales | First-Team All-Northeast Region | First Team All-American
Scales anchors the fifth-lowest scoring defense in the country and helped BC to its second straight ACC title. She helped the defense allow just 20 goals in the three victories, leading to being named the ACC's Most Outstanding Player. She leads the way with 37 caused turnovers and 37 ground balls. An All-ACC selection and back-to-back Defender of the Year, Scales was recently named Eagle of the Year and was a top-25 Tewaaraton Finalist. Just recently she was the first defender selected and the fourth overall pick in the AU Pro Lacrosse College Draft.Â
Mckenna Davis | First Team All-Northeast Region | Second Team All-American
The junior has been feeding her teammates all season long with an ACC-high 63 assists, which also leads the country. Her 87 points are second on the team and sixth in the country, while she passed the 200-point milestone. She is the program's all-time leader with 138 assists, breaking the record in the ACC championship. The attacker was an ACC All-Second Team selection and has at least three points in 16 games this season, including a five-point (2 G, 3 A) outing in the win over Syracuse.Â
Belle Smith | First-Team All-Northeast Region | Second Team All-AmericanÂ
Smith has done it all with 43 goals, 16 assists, 59 points, 24 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers and a career-high 44 draw controls. The two-way middy is the only player in the ACC to post at least 35 goals, 10 assists, 15 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and 35 draw controls. The New York native won ACC Midfielder of the Year for a second straight season and was a top 25 Tewaaraton finalist. She was also named ACC All-First Team and to the ACC All-Tournament Team. Smith was picked 10th in the AU Pro College Draft. She has 16 points in the postseason with 12 goals and four assists.Â
Shea Dolce | First-Team All-Northeast Region | All-American Honorable Mention
Dolce, one of the best goalies in the country, is first in the ACC and third in the nation with an 8.60 goals-against average, while she first with a .462 save percentage. The Darien, Conn., native was named ACC Goalkeeper of the Year and to the All-ACC First Team. She posted a .535 save percentage in the ACC Tournament, highlighted by a 10-save performance in the title game against Syracuse. She has four games with at least 10 saves and is 10th among active goalies with a .872 goals against average. She is ninth all-time in school history with 272 career saves.Â
Cassidy Weeks | First-Team All-Northeast Region | Third Team All-American
Weeks is having a career season for the Eagles with a personal-high 39 goals, 48 points, and a team and career-high 64 draw controls with nine assists. The midfielder was named an All-ACC First Team selection and to the All-ACC Tournament Team. She has six hat tricks, eight games with at least three points and five games with at least five draw controls. She was the 15th selection in the AU Pro College Draft.
Emma LoPinto | Second Team All-Northeast Region | All-American Honorable MentionÂ
LoPinto is third in goals (54), second in assists (27) and third in points with 81. She's the only player on the team with at least 50 points and 25 assists, while she also has 19 ground balls. The first-year Eagle was a second-team All-ACC selection. She has been on a tear over the past 12 games, leading the team with 52 points and led BC with 14 points in the three games en route to the ACC title. She is first among all juniors with 268 career points.Â
Kayla Martello | Second-Team All-Northeast Region
The senior attacker is second on the team with a career-high 62 goals and 70 points. Martello is fourth in the ACC in goals, while she led the team with 11 in the ACC Tournament, highlighted by a six-goal performance in the ACC title game against Syracuse. She has a hat trick in 16 games and is a USA Lacrosse All-American. Heading into championship weekend, she has scored a goal in 48 straight games. Martello is seventh all-time in school history with 174 goals.Â
BC will face Syracuse at 5:30 p.m. next Friday, May 24 in the national semifinals.Â
