
Lacrosse Advances to Quarterfinals with Win Over Princeton

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse outlasted Princeton in a high-scoring 21-16 win over Princeton on Sunday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.Â
The Eagles will face Michigan for a spot in the semifinals this Thursday, May 16Â at 5 p.m. on Newton Campus. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased HERE.Â
Six players netted hat tricks with Belle Smith tallying a season-high five goals. She also turned in two caused turnovers, four ground balls and four draw controls.Â
Mckenna Davis poured in a game-best seven points thanks to four assists and three goals.Â
With the score tied 9-9 midway through the second quarter, Rachel Clark started a 7-0 run that stretched into the third period with one of her three goals. The run was highlighted by Emma LoPinto's score with two seconds left in the half to cap off a 3-0 run in 30 seconds to give BC a 13-9 edge at the half.Â
Davis' goal with 11:49 left in the third grew the lead to seven, 16-9. However, the Tigers scored the next four to climb to within three heading into the final period. The Eagles earned a 20-13 cushion after scoring the first four goals of the final frame. Princeton scored two straight but Davis' goal with 2:15 sealed the win.Â
Three more Eagles in Clark, LoPinto and Andrea Reynolds all netted four points with three goals and an assist. Ryan Smith tied the team lead with five draw controls and two caused turnovers. Cassidy Weeks recorded a hat trick and five draw controls.Â
Shea Dolce made 10 saves (eight second half) in the win.Â
