CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse handed No. 16 Yale its first loss of the season with a 16-8 win on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in Alumni Stadium. The Eagles win a third straight to improve to 11-2 overall. The Bulldogs fall to 9-1.
Four Eagles posted at least three points and three players netted at least three goals. Rachel Clark registered a game-high four goals with three assists for seven points. Cassidy Weeks had herself a hat trick, one assist, three draw controls, and a caused turnover. Emma LoPinto totaled four points (2 G, 2 A), while Mckenna Davis posted three assists, one goal and four points. Belle Smith rounded out the three Eagles with a hat trick.
The defense posted eight caused turnovers led by Hunter Roman and Sydney Scales with two apiece. BC also won the draw control, 17-10. Ryan Smith led the way with six and Andrea Reynolds (4 draw controls) and Shea Baker chipped in with two.
Three different Eagles scored in the first 3:40 of the contest to give BC a 3-0 lead out of the gate. After Yale had scored two straight, LoPinto found Clark as the time expired to give BC a 4-2 edge going into the second.
Baker started a 3-0 spurt in the second that was capped off by a R. Smith to push the lead to five, 7-2. However, the Bulldogs answered with three of their own to dwindle the lead to two. Clark's second score with little time on the clock sent the Eagles into the half with an 8-5 edge.
BC started the third with five consecutive goals to stretch the lead to 13-5. Yale got on the board for the first time in the second half, eventually leading to a touchdown lead going into the fourth, 13-6.
BC returns to ACC play on Sunday against Clemson at 12 p.m. inside Alumni Stadium for Senior Day.
