Series Goes to No. 14 Virginia on Saturday Afternoon

Eagles homestand continues against UMass Lowell Tuesday at 4:00
BRIGHTON, Mass. — Boston College Baseball (21-21, 8-16), dropped the weekend series against No. 14 Virginia (33-12, 14-10), falling 4-0 in the Saturday rubber match after losing game two, 4-3 on Friday night.
In game two on Friday, the Eagles opened the scoring courtesy of a two-run double from Nick Wang (Newton, Mass.) in the first inning. After Virginia tied it an inning later, Vince Cimini (Scranton, Pa.) put Boston College back up with a run-scoring single to left field. The Cavaliers tied it in the sixth and took the lead for good in the ninth inning, winning game two 4-3. John West (Shrewsbury, Mass.) delivered another great start in the loss, striking out six and walking just two over seven three-run innings. Aidan Crowley was charged with the loss (0-1).
In the rubber match on Sunday, Evan Moore (Rocky Hill, Ct.) started for the Eagles and turned in a strong three innings of work, allowing just three hits and striking out two with two runs allowed. Moore was issued the loss (1-3). The Cavaliers hung two-spots in the third and fifth to build a 4-0 lead heading into the sixth inning, where the score would remain.
The Eagles will resume action this Tuesday at home with a mid-week contest against UMass Lowell at 4:00 p.m.
