GREENSBORO, N.C. - Boston College women's basketball senior guard Dontavia Waggoner was named to the ACC All-Defensive Team on Tuesday, as the ACC announced its postseason awards.Â
Waggoner is the first Eagle since Marnelle Garraud (2020-21) to land on the all-defensive team and the third in school history to be named All-ACC Defense. It's the first postseason conference honor for the guard as well.Â
The Nashville, Tenn. native is second in the ACC with a team and career-high 92 steals. She is also second in the ACC in steals per game at 3.02. Waggoner tallied multiple swipes in 26 of 31 games.Â
Waggoner set the single-season program mark in steals and is fifth in school history with 193 steals. She is seven away from being one of three players with Ann Odoy and Garraud with 200 career steals.Â
Waggoner is having another solid season, averaging 12.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 1.6 assists per game. She is shooting a career-high 44.4 percent from the field and is one of four players in the country averaging at least 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and three steals per game.Â
She heads into the ACC Tournament playing her best ball, turning in 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds over the last five games.Â
BC faces Clemson on Wednesday in the opening round of the 2024 Ally ACC Women's Basketball Tournament.
