Eagles Fall in Home Finale to Pittsburgh

Quinten Post led all scorers with 30 points to go with 12 rebounds in the loss
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College dropped a 90-65 decision to Pittsburgh in the final home game of the regular season.
Prior to tonight's game, the men's basketball class of 2024 was recognized for their contributions to the Boston College men's basketball program; four student-athletes - Abe Atiyeh, Mason Madsen, Quinten Post, Jaeden Zackery - and five team managers - Patrick Blaesser, Matthew Malley, Jack Murphy, Aidan O'Rourke, and Will Sweet.
The Eagles were led by Quinten Post, who scored a game-high 30 points on 14-of-22 shooting from the floor, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. Â He added 12 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. Â Devin McGlockton tallied 10 points, six boards, three assists, and a steal.
The loss - BC's fourth straight - drops the overall record to 15-14 and 6-12 in ACC play.

FIRST HALF
- Pitt - the ACC's leader in 3-pointers made per game - opened the contest making six of its first seven from beyond the arc, taking a 23-12 lead eight minutes in.
- A 9-0 run by Boston College, capped by a Claudell Harris Jr. layup, made it 23-21 with 9:10 left in the period. Â But that was as close as the Eagles would get the rest of the way
- Pitt would respond with a 12-2 run over the next three plus minutes to extend its lead back to to double digits - at 35-23.
- The Panthers led 47-32 at the break - the largest halftime deficit (15) for the Eagles in ACC play
- Post's 17 points were the second-most by an Eagle in the first half (18 - Harris vs. Lehigh)Â
- Both teams began the second half making only two of their first nine attempts from the floor
- Pitt would again find their hot hand on the offensive end of the floor, finishing the final frame with another eight 3-pointers.
- BC trailed by its largest margin of the season - 32 points - at 90-58 with just under two minutes left in regulation.
- Post's nine double-doubles are the most by a BC player in a single-season since 2006-07, when Jared Dudley had 10
- Former BC greats Sean Marshall '07 and Jerome Robinson '18 were in attendance at Conte Forum
- Pittsburgh's 16 3-pointers tied for the most by an opponent at Conte Forum. Â Syracuse also made 16 treys on Dec. 12, 2020
- Senior Abe Atiyeh connected on the first 3-pointer of his career in the closing minute of tonight's game
- Boston College closes out the regular season on the road next week, playing at Miami and Louisville.
- The Eagles and Canes close out their season series on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Coral Gables on ACC Network.
