The Eagles Cruise Past Iona in Five Innings

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- Boston College softball rolled to a 9-1 victory over Iona University Sunday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village.Â
The Eagles made quick work of the Gaels, scoring in every inning, closing the game 9-1 in five innings in the teams second match-up of the weekend. The Eagles moved to 16-8 on the season while Iona fell to 3-13.
BC added three runs in the first inning with two outs on the board a Jules Shields single brought Nicole Giery through home plate. Leaving Addision Jackson on second and Shields on first. Elisabeth Laviolette tripled through the right side bringing Jackson and Shields home putting the Eagles up 3-0. Â
The scoring continued in the second with runners on second and third, a Nicole Giery home run added three to the board. The momentum continued in the third off of a Laviolette 2-run homer. The Gaels responded in the fourth adding one run, and the Eagles closed the game in the fourth off of a Jackson hit to bring home Slike.
Slike, Giery, and Shields all added two runs, while Lavi and Giery each added a homerun. The Eagles home record moves to 4-0.Â
