BC Heads to Boca Raton to face-off FAU, FGCU, Columbia, and URI

BOCA RATON, Fla.– Following last weekend's 2-2 performance, the Boston College softball program returns to Florida for the Owl Classic at Florida Atlantic University.

FGCU, FAU, Columbia, and URI make up the competition for the five-team tournament with FGCU playing BC twice on the weekend while FAU, Columbia, and URI will play the Eagles once.

LEADING OFF

FGCU has gone 5-5 this season, the two teams met in the first tournament of the season where BC was victorious in both match-ups 2-0, and 4-3 in an 11 inning game.
Head Coach David Deiros enters his 22nd season leading the Eagles. He is 738-423-3 in his career as head coach at FGCU.
A member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, FGCU first joined the ASUN conference in 2008 overall the Eagles are 189-120 in the conference.
Deiros has coached 17 ASUN All-Academic Team selections, 24 All-Conference First-Team choices, 19 Second-Team picks, a Third-Team selection, and 17 All-Freshman Team honorees.
FAU is 8-3 on the 2024 season defeating Louisville in the Joan Joyce Classic.
Head coach Jordan Clark was named to the helm of FAU softball in 2022, in her first year she led the Owls to a 35-20 record.
FAU senior outfielder Cammeo Presutti returns for the Owls. In 2023, Presutti led the team in runs (35), hits (61) and batting average (.322).
The Owls' Gabby Sacco returns after being the ace in the circle last year for Florida Atlantic, recording a record of 19-8 and a 1.61 ERA. She was named C-USA Pitcher of the Year after an incredible 2023 season. Sacco pitched a total of 169.1 innings with 16 complete games.
The University of Rhode Island is coming off of their season opener in South Carolina facing Northern Kentucky, Saint Francis, Wofford, and Gardner-Webb. URI went 1-5 on the weekend, defeating Wofford.
The Rams ranked sixth in the preseason A-10 Softball poll.
Rhode Island returns its entire starting infield from the 2023 season..
Columbia University makes its 2024 season opener at the FAU Owl Classic.
This will be the first meeting of Boston College and Columbia in program history.

Columbia Head Coach Jennifer Teague enters her 10th season as head coach of the Columbia softball program for the 2024 season.
Columbia made history in 2023 as one of four Ivy League teams to compete in the inaugural Ivy League Softball Tournament.
