BOSTON COLLEGE VS. SOUTH CAROLINA - ALL-TIME SERIES
- Today marks the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools.Â
- Boston College holds a 2-1 all-time edge against South Carolina, including a 1-0 mark at home. BC has won the last two meetings.
- BC found the win column, 85-70, on Jan. 1, 2011 in Columbia, S.C. The Eagles won, 85-76, on Dec. 30, 2009 at home.
BOSTON COLLEGE VS. THE SEC
- BC holds a 13-12 record vs. teams currently in the SEC.Â
- Last season, BC toppled Vanderbilt on the road, 80-62, in the inaugural year of the ACC/SEC Challenge.Â
- It marked the Eagles' first win over an SEC opponent since 2016-17.Â

BOSTON COLLEGE IN CONFERENCE CHALLENGE PLAY
- This is the second all-time game for BC in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
- Last year, BC beat Vanderbilt, 80-62, in Nashville on Nov. 29, 2023.
- From 2006-22, BC was 7-7 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
- The Eagles were 4-4 in ACC/Big Ten Challenge home games.
CAYMAN, SAW, CONQUERED: EAGLES GO 3-0 AND WIN CAYMAN ISLANDS CLASSIC
- Joshua Beadle's 3FG with 2.2 seconds left propelled Boston College past Boise State, winning the Cayman Islands Classic.
- The 63-61 win over Boise State clinched the first MTE victory since the 2018-19 season for BC, when it captured the inaugural Fort Myers Tipoff. It was the first eight-team MTE win since the Eagles won the 2003 Paradise Jam.
- Each of the three victories for the Eagles had decidedly different paths toward their eventual outcomes.
- In the opener vs. ODU, BC led for nearly 35:00 and posted both its highest point total (82) and largest margin of victory (30).
- Donald Hand Jr. posted his third double-double of the season (12p/10r) as 14 different Eagles saw action.
- The Eagles dished out a season-best 18 assists and committed a season-low eight turnovers in the balanced victory.
- Against Missouri State, the Eagles drilled 3-pointers to force overtime (Donald Hand Jr.) and win the game (Elijah Strong).
- Hand and Fred Payne led BC with 18 points apiece, while Strong added 13 points - with eight coming in the overtime period.
- Boston College logged its most blocked shots in a game in nearly two years, swatting away 10 Missouri State attempts.
- In the title game against Boise, the Eagles erased a nine-point deficit with less than nine minutes remaining.
- The game saw seven ties and five lead changes in the second half before Beadle's gamewinning trifecta sealed the win.
- Chad Venning led BC with 16 points; Beadle's 3-pointer elevated him to a new career-high in points, with 13.
- The stout Eagles' defense held the Broncos without a field goal for the final 9:00 and 24 points below their season average.
- Hand Jr. was named tournament MVP, averaging 12.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists in the three games.
- Strong was also named to the all-tournament team, averaging 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in BC's three victories.

- Using per-40 minute metrics, Fred Payne is averaging 20.4 points and nearly 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

BOSTON COLLEGE OFF TO BEST START IN SIX YEARS
- BC's 6-2 record through the first eight games of the season matches its best start in six years.
- The Eagles jumped out to a 6-2 start in 2018-19, including capturing the Fort Myers Tipoff Classic MTE.
- BC got to 6-2 after a five-game win streak from Nov. 19-26 - the longest for the team since the 2017-18 season.
THE CAYMAN CLUTCH GENE
- Three different Eagles connected on 3-pointers that either forced OT or sealed the victory for Boston College in the Caymans.
- Donald Hand Jr. made a 3-pointer on the right wing with 14 seconds left against Missouri State, forcing overtime.
- In the extra frame, Elijah Strong connected on a 3-ball from the left wing with four ticks left, sealing the 76-74 win.
- Joshua Beadle's step-back 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left propelled BC over Boise State and to the tournament title.
I'VE GOT SIX ON IT
- Roger McFarlane has grabbed at least six rebounds in 27 of his last 30 games played, dating back to Dec. 16, 2023.
- McFarlane has had at least six rebounds in 67 of his 98 career games, including five of eight games this season.
- The 6-4 guard ranks second on the team in rebounding, averaging 6.4 boards per outing.
EARLY RETURNS AND ACC LEADERS
- Donald Hand Jr. ranks seventh in rebounding (7.9) and free throw percentage (.882).
- Hand ranks first in the ACC and ninth nationally in rebounding for guards.
- Roger McFarlane checks in at 17th in the ACC in rebounding (6.4), making BC one of four teams in the league (Syracuse, SMU, Pittsburgh) with at least two players among the top 20 in the league in rebounding.
- Chad Venning (t3rd, 1.63 bpg) also ranks among the league leaders in blocks.
- Chas Kelley III's assist/turnover ratio of 2.78:1 (25:9) ranks 10th in the league.
HAIL CHARLES THE THIRD
- Through eight games, Chas Kelley III is averaging 3.1 assists per outing and a 2.78:1 assist/turnover rate.
- He had nine points and a career-best eight helpers vs. Temple, while adding nine points and five dimes against Loyola (Md.).
- The junior guard recorded six assists to only two turnovers in 38 minutes of play in the overtime win over Missouri State.
- From the outside, Kelley has knocked down 9-of-24 3-point field goals - good for nearly a 38.0% clip.Â
- His assist/turnover ratio of 2.78:1 ranks 10th in the ACC and is 71st nationally.
ASSIST/TURNOVER RATE OVER THE LAST SIX
- Since posting a season-low four assists to a season-high 17 turnovers against VCU, Boston College has settled down.
- The Eagles have won five of six during that stretch, having vastly improved on its ball control.
- Over the last six games, BC has logged 83 assists to only 66 turnovers - a 1.26 assist/turnover ratio.
- Boston College recorded 14 assists to 31 turnovers through the first two games (0.45:1) of the season.
BRINGING THE BOOM
- Boston College drilled a season-high 11 3-pointers against Loyola (Md.), connecting on 52.4% from the outside (11-21)
- Donald Hand Jr. and Chas Kelley III each connected on three 3FG, while Fred Payne and Dion Brown made two treys apiece.
- In two games in the Caymans - vs. ODU and vs. Missouri State - the Eagles made 10 3-pointers apiece.
- For the season, the Eagles have made 35% (52-149) from beyond the arc through eight games played.
- A year ago, BC made more 3-pointers (54) but did so at a lower percentage (32.9%) through the first eight contests.
FIVE'S COMIN'...
- Sophomore guard Fred Payne has scored in double digits in three of the last five games off the bench.
- In the overtime win over Missouri State, Payne poured in a career-high 18 points - including a key 3-pointer in the OT period.
- He had 11 points in 14 minutes of action against ODU in the Cayman Islands Classic opener.
- Against Loyola (Md.), Payne scored 10 points in 11 minutes of action, knocking down 4-of-7 shots including two 3-pointers.
- Nearly a year ago, Payne suffered what was a season-ending knee injury on Dec. 5, 2023 against CCSU
- So far this year, he is averaging 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 14 minutes per game.
BEADLE'S LAST TWO
- Joshua Beadle is averaging 16.0 points, connecting on 14-of-19 shots from the floor, over his last two games.
- The grad transfer had 13 points in the Cayman Islands Classic title game, drilling the gamewinning 3FG vs. Boise State.
- Last time out against Dartmouth, Beadle had a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor.
- During the two game stretch, the 6-3 combo guard knocked down 3-of-4 from beyond the arc in 25 minutes per game.
