
Eagles Suffer Loss to No. 18 Ole Miss

BAHAMAS - Boston College women's basketball was dealt a 92-55 loss to No. 18 Ole Miss in the opening round game of the Continental Tires Baha Mar Championship on Monday evening.Â
The Eagles fall to 6-2 on the season, while the Rebels move to 4-1.Â
Dontavia Waggoner led the Eagles in scoring with 13 points, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and 5-of-6 at the line with a season-high seven rebounds. Andrea Daley netted 10 points, while T'yana Todd dished out a team-best five assists.Â
A slow start offensively and six offensive rebounds set the tone in the opening quarter, where Ole Miss led by 12 going into the second.Â
The Eagles tried to build some momentum before the half, slicing a 19-point deficit to 12 after Kennedi Jackson and Todd scored all seven points during a 7-0 surge. However, the Rebels ended the half on a 6-0 surge to stretch the lead.Â
Ole Miss stayed in control in the second half to pull away for the win. The Rebels shot 51 percent from the field and collected 23 offensive rebounds, while 52 points came off turnovers (29) and second-chance points (23).Â
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the consolation game against No. 2 UConn/Oregon State, aiming for a 1-1 finish in the tournament.Â
