GAME NOTES
FIRST-AND-10
» Boston College returns home to take on bowl-eligible North Carolina at Alumni Stadium for a Noon ET kickoff on Nov. 23.
» The game will be broadcast nationally on The CW, including CW56 in Boston. Evan Lepler (play-by-play) and Steve Smith Sr. (analyst) are on the call with sideline reporter Carla Gebhart.
» Coverage on the Boston College Sports Network begins 30 minutes prior to kickoff on WEEI 93.7 FM. Jon Meterparel (play-by-play) is joined on the call by former BC linebacker Pete Cronan in the booth and quarterback Scott Mutryn on the sideline.
» Saturday marks the 40th anniversary of No. 10 BC’s Hail Mary win over No. 12 Miami on a last-second touchdown pass from Doug Flutie to Gerard Phelan. BC is 9-5 all-time on Nov. 23.
» The Eagles trail the all-time series with the Tar Heels, 2-6, including a 0-5 record in ACC games. The two sides matched up four times in BC’s first eight years in the league, but have played each other just once (2020) since 2014.
» In the last meeting, Boston College came up short, 26-22, to No. 11/12 UNC. The Eagles cut the deficit to two with 45 second left in the game and the potential two-point conversion failed and was returned 98 yards for a Tar Heel score.
» BC’s last win over UNC was the 2004 Continental Tire Bowl.
» Defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku is fourth in the country in total sacks at 11.0, which ranks second in the ACC. His 14.0 TFLs are also tied for eighth in FBS.
» In the last two games, Kye Robichaux has rushed for 278 yards and four touchdowns, while averaging 5.7 yards per carry.
» The Eagles are one win away from achieving bowl eligibility for back-to-back seasons and eighth time in nine years.
