Eagles Swept by No. 15 Georgia Tech

Boston College fell by scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-22
ATLANTA – The Boston College Volleyball team fell to No. 15 Georgia Tech with set scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-22. The Eagles moved to 12-16 and 5-11 in ACC play.
Halle Schroder led the Eagles with 11 kills, followed by Anna Herrington who logged eight kills on a .571 hitting percentage. Sophia Lambros dished out 15 assists and added four digs. Brooklyn Yelland led the backrow with 12 digs, while Cornelia Roach led the front row with five blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: BC gained its first advantage at the 7-6 mark off of a Schroder kill. The score locked up seven more times until a two point run by the Yellow Jackets gave them the advantage at the media timeout, 15-13. The Yellow Jackets went on to add five of the next seven points to force an Eagles timeout. Audrey Ross added one out of the timeout but three straight by Georgia Tech closed the set, 25-17. Schroder led the Eagles through the first set adding five kills on six attempts.
SET 2: BC took an early 4-2 lead in set two thanks to a 3-0 run. However Georgia Tech went on a large run scoring five straight to leap ahead 7-4. The Eagles regrouped momentarily midway through the second set. A kill from Jenna Pollock made the set score 17-10. However, Georgia Tech got going again to close out the match, ending the frame with a 4-1 run to win the set, 25-15.
SET 3: The third set started like the second, taking a 2-1 advantage. The Yellow Jackets added four straight, for the Eagles to respond with its own four point run. Led by back-to-back kills by Schroder, to put BC up one, 6-5. The score went to lock up 11 more times, along with seven lead changes. The Eagles gained its largest lead on six unanswered points, 17-15. The lead, however, was short-lived as the Yellow Jackets gained six of the next eight points, 21-19. BC fought back to within two on a kill from Ross, but GT closed the match, 25-22.

The Eagles travel to Syracuse for a mid-week match-up Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
