Volleyball Drops Regular-Season Finale to Virginia, 3–1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team (16-16, 5-15 ACC) closed out their regular season with a 3-1 loss (25-27, 25-23, 25-16, 25-21) to Virginia (13-17, 6-14 ACC) Saturday afternoon.
After the match, the Eagles recognized three seniors: Anna Herrington, Grace Milliken, Hanna Hoffman and one graduate student, Cornelia Roach.
Audrey Ross led the Eagles with 16 kills and over 16 points. Anna Herrington wasn't too far behind posting nine kills and adding three blocks. Bella Ehrlich also posted nine kills, matching her career high. Lucy Mott and Hanna Hoffman had a combined 36 assists, guiding the offense. Hoffman led the Eagles with 13 digs. Cornelia Roach led the Eagles with five block assists.
The Cavaliers and Eagles got out to a tightly contested first set evening the score four times before a 6-2 Eagle run featuring kills from Hoppes, Herrington, Milliken and Ross put BC in the lead, 12-9, forcing a UVA timeout. The Eagles and Cavaliers nearly went back and forth with points, going 6-6 as the Eagles extended their lead to 18-15, forcing another UVA timeout. The Cavaliers fought back going on a 5-2 run to even the score at 20-20, forcing a BC timeout. Trading points, the score evened five more times before a service error and final kill from Marjanovic secured the first set for the Eagles, 27-25.
Teams tied early at 2-2, and 3-3 before a 3-0 UVA run pushed the Cavaliers to take the lead, 6-3. Flipping the script, the Eagles took a 15-12 advantage at the media timeout. The Cavaliers pushed back, going on a 4-2 run to come within one of the Eagles, trailing 17-16, and forcing a BC timeout. The score evened three more times before the Cavaliers pushed to the lead, 24-23 forcing another BC timeout. One final service ace from the Cavaliers secured the second frame for UVA, 25-23.

The Eagles went on a 10-7 run with kills from Ross (2), Layne (2), Ehrlich (2) and Roach to come within two, trailing 15-13 to force a UVA timeout. Going on a 5-1 run, the Eagles took the lead, 18-16, and forced another UVA timeout. The Cavaliers quickly responded taking a 5-1 run of their own to take a 21-19 lead and force a BC timeout. Despite a late ace from Curtis and a UVA attack error, the Cavaliers took the fourth set, 25-21.
