Eagles Drop Three Setter to No. 4 Louisville

Julia Haggerty collects her 500th career block in the effort
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College volleyball team fell to No. 4 Louisville with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, and 25-8 Sunday afternoon. The Eagles moved to 12-14 overall and 5-9 in the ACC.
Audrey Ross led the Eagles offense adding 11 kills, eight of which were added in the first set. Sophia Lambros guided the offense adding 12 assists. Aubrey Moore led the back row adding eight digs while the front row was led by Julia Haggerty adding five blocks.
Haggerty collected her 500th career block in the effort against Louisville. Marking her the first BC volleyball athlete to reach the 500 career block mark. Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: The Eagles started quick in the first set, shooting out to a three point lead, with three straight kills from Ross. The two teams fought back-and-forth, until Louisville captured five of the next seven to lock the match at 10-all. The lead traded off as the score tied four more times until a three point run by the Cardinals gave them a two point lead they never gave up. The Eagles were within one off of a Ross kill but Louisville secured four of the last five points to take the set 25-21. Audrey Ross led the offense adding eight kills in the first set hitting .636.
SET 2: Louisville responded in the second set jumping out to a 6-1 lead. BC emerged from the media timeout gaining seven of the next nine points to put the Eagles within two. The run was led by Anna Herrington notching two kills on the six straight points. The Cardinals did not let up gaining four straight points to reclaim a six point lead. The second set was closed out on back-to-back Cardinal points, 25-18.
SET 3: The Cardinals held its momentum in the third set. Capturing four straight points, three of which were collected by Charitie Luper aces, 9-3. Louisville went on multiple runs and was able to capture the set. The Eagles were unable to overcome the early deficit falling, 25-8.

The eagles travel to South Carolina to meet Clemson Friday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
