November 01, 2024 | Men's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Boston College men's soccer stunned No. 8 North Carolina in the regular-season finale with a 1-0 victory on Friday evening at Dorrance Field.
The Eagles improve to 6-4-6 overall after a second straight win and move to 1-4-3 in ACC play. BC will wait for its opponent in the ACC Tournament that begins next week on Nov. 6. Boston College earned its first ranked win since a 2-1 triumph over No. 3 Wake Forest in 2019.
It came down to four minutes left in the contest when Marci Killeen fired in the Eagles' lone shot on goal in the upper right corner to deliver the game-winning score. Marco Dos Santos and Jack Burkhardt were credited with the assist.
Brennan Klein played a pivotal role in the win, as he came up with six saves in the matchup. It was the third game this season the Phoenix native recorded at least five saves in a match.
Klein highlighted the first half for the Eagle defense, as the redshirt senior goalkeeper made three saves to keep the match scoreless going into the break. Both teams combined for seven shots, while Christian Bejar and Dos Santos got off shot attempts.
Neither team would score until Killeen's goal, leading to the eventual victory for the Eagles.
