Eagles Fall to No. 15 SMU in ACC Tournament

Brennan Klein made three saves
DALLAS, Texas – No. 13 seed Boston College fell to No. 4 seed and 15th-ranked SMU by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday evening in the first round of the ACC Tournament at Washburne Soccer Stadium.
The Eagles closed their season with a 6-5-6 overall record, while the Mustangs improved to 10-2-5 and advance to the ACC Quarterfinals this weekend against Wake Forest.
SMU scored early in the second half to take a 1-0 lead, capitalizing on a corner kick opportunity. Kyran Chambron Pinho put the corner towards the near post and Bailey Sparks headed the ball into the bottom right corner to put the Mustangs ahead.
The Eagles nearly opened the scoring midway through the first half. Marci Killeen's shot was saved by SMU goalkeeper Martin Dominguez and then Christian Bejar's attempt inside the box was cleared off the line by a Mustang defender.
Boston College generated numerous opportunities late in the second half from both open play and set pieces, but their chances were rebuffed by the SMU defense.
