October 30, 2024 | Women's Basketball
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball senior transfer Kennedi Jackson was named to the Lisa Leslie Award Watch List, recognizing the top 20 centers in the nation.
The Lisa Leslie Award, now in its eighth year, recognizes the top centers in Division I women's college basketball. It is named after the three-time All-American, 1994 National Player of the Year, and Class of 2015 Hall of Famer. Jackson is one of three centers from the ACC to be recognized by the Naismith Hoops Hall of Fame. She is also the second Eagle to appear on a preseason watch list, as Andrea Daley was named to the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List earlier this week.Â
Jackson enters her first season with the Eagles after spending two years at Charleston Southern, averaging 11.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in 59 career games.Â
Last season, she poured in a career and team-high 14.3 points on 46.7 percent shooting from the field with 5.4 rebounds and 35 assists. Jackson scored in double figures in 24 games with eight games of 20-plus points and a pair of double-doubles.Â
Jackson led the Big South in field goal percentage, was second in blocked shots, fifth in scoring and 10th in rebounds per game.Â
The New Orleans native was one of three players in the conference to post multiple games of 20 points and 10 boards. She scored in double figures in 15 of the last 16 games, including a stretch of nine straight where she turned in 17.7 points, shot 49.5 percent and pulled down 4.9 rebounds.Â
Jackson was the first CSU player since 2010-11 to be named a First-Team All-Big South selection.Â
Going into the season, Jackson was named a team captain in just her first season and is 311 points away from 1,000 for her career.Â
The Eagles open the season on Monday against Lafayette at 5 p.m. inside Conte Forum.Â
