Eagles drop a three set match to Miami
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College Volleyball team fell to Maimi at home Sunday afternoon. The Eagles move to 8-12 on the season and 1-7 in the ACC. Falling to Miami in three sets by scores of, 24-26, 7-25, and 25-27.
Halle Schroder led the way for the Eagles on offense and defense adding nine kills and eight digs. Julia Haggerty hit a team high .538 on seven kills adding four blocks over the three sets of play. Sophia Lamnbros and Aubrey Moore guided the offense adding a combined 24 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: The first set was a back-and-forth battle, as both teams took multiple runs. The Eagles opened the set taking a two point advantage for Miami to respond, capturing five of the next seven points for the lead to change in the Hurricanes favor. The Eagles regained the lead on a three point run, 10-8. The 'Canes gained momentum out of the media timeout on a 7-1 jump to take a four point lead. The Eagles were able to lock the match at 24-all forcing the set to extra points on a Haggerty solo block. Miami answered, closing the match, 26-24.
SET 2: Miami shot out on a 10 point lead, led by Ariana Rodriguez gaining five service aces. The Eagles were not able to climb back from the deficit. Dropping the second set, 25-7.
SET 3: The Hurricanes took an early lead in the final set after a five point run, 7-4. The Eagles were within two after a Miami error, a solo block by Cornelia Roach, and a Schroder kill forcing a Hurricane timeout. The 'Canes answered taking a five point advantage to force a BC timeout. The Eagles gained eight of the next 10 points to lock the match at 21. The run was led by Audrey Ross adding two kills. After trading points, Miami added for the Eagles to match, locking the set at 24. The 'Canes added a point for BC to follow suit on a kill by Haggerty, 25-25. Miami closed out the match on back-to-back kills from Grace Lopez, 27-25.

Boston College continues its home stretch next Friday at 1:00 p.m. facing Virginia Tech at the Margot Connell Recreation Center.
