
Eagles Sweep the Hokies

BC secures its first home ACC victory
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College Volleyball team secured its first home ACC victory against Virginia Tech in a three set sweep, with scores of 26-24, 25-17, and 25-23.
The Eagles were led by Halle Schroder and Sam Hoppes adding 10 kills, Hoppes led the team with a .500 hitting percentage. The back row was led by Brooklyn Yelland tallying 12 digs, while Julia Haggerty led the afternoon with six blocks. The offense was guided by Sophia Lambros tallying 17 assists adding five digs and one service ace.
The Eagles led the afternoon with a .356 hitting percentage totaling 42 kills on 87 total attacks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: The Eagles opened the match taking an early 6-3 lead off of a five nothing run led by Audrey Ross. Virginia Tech collected three straight off of back-to-back VT aces. After locking the score six times, a six point Eagle run created a commanding six point lead. The Hokies fought back, within three forcing a BC timeout. The Eagles were able to close out the set, 26-24.
SET 2: BC took a commanding second set lead, 10-5, forcing a Hokies timeout. Both teams traded points four times until swapping two points a piece. The Hokies' Jasmine Robinson tallied three kills in a row, calling a BC timeout. The Eagles responded on a 6-1 run closing the second set, 25-17. The run was led by back-to-back solo blocks by Haggerty.
SET 3: The third set opened in similar fashion as BC opened on 3-1 advantage. The Hokies fought back, locking the match four times. An Eagle run opened the lead to as many as five, 17-12. VT strung together three points forcing an Eagle timeout. A Haggerty kill kicked-off a 4-1 run, opening the lead to five. The Hokies tried to respond, locking the match at 23 but kills by Grace Milliken and Audrey Ross closed out the match, 25-23.
