No. 2 Eagles Host AIC in Home Opener Friday Night; USNTDP for Exhibition on Saturday

BC opens its 2024-25 home slate this weekend
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Second-ranked Boston College begins a three-game homestand at Kelley Rink on Friday night with its home opener against AIC. The Eagles then host USNTDP for an exhibition on Saturday evening. Faceoff for both games is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+, with Friday's game also available on WEEI 850 AM. PRE-GAME HOCKEY HOUR
• Join other BC fans before the games this weekend for hospitality from 5:30-6:45 p.m.
• Admission is free and open to the general public; food and beverage will be available for purchase
• The event is located in the south endzone of Alumni Stadium
• Fans can enter the stadium through Gate or Gate D

• The Eagles are 1-1-0 after splitting their opening weekend against Michigan State
• AIC is 0-2-1 following losses to Maine and Ohio State and a tie against the Buckeyes

• The Eagles defeated the Spartans 3-0 on Friday evening, but Michigan State took the win on Saturday by a score of 4-3
• Will Vote scored twice in the second period of Friday's win, marking his first collegiate multi-goal performance
• Oskar Jellvik finished the weekend with three points after scoring one goal with two assists
• Ryan Leonard and Gabe Perreault each scored one goal along with one assist
• Lukas Gustafsson scored the team's first power play goal of the season
• James Hagens posted an assist in both games

LEADERS ELECTED
• Graduate defenseman Eamon Powell has been elected to serve as captain of the Eagles for the second-straight season, while seniors Connor Joyce and Mike Posma and sophomore Ryan Leonard will serve as alternate captains
• In 2023-24, Powell finished fourth nationally among defenseman in assists (33) and points (38) en route to being named a Hockey East Second Team All-Star and receiving Hockey East's Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award
• Powell was also named to the Hockey East All-Tournament and NCAA Providence All-Regional teams

A LOOK AT AIC
• AIC comes into the weekend with a 0-2-1 record
• The Yellow Jackets traveled to Ohio State last weekend for two games, skating to a 3-3 tie on Friday night before falling by a score of 5-2 the following evening
• Josh Barnes has three goals so far for AIC while John Lundy has a team-high two assists
• The Yellow Jackets have utilized three goaltenders between the pipes through three games, combining to make 95 saves with a .872 saves percentage

SERIES HISTORY
• Friday marks the fifth all-time meeting between BC and AIC
• Boston College holds a 4-0-0 all-time record in the series
• It's been more than 50 years since the two teams met for a regular season game as BC picked up a 4-0 win over AIC on Jan. 30, 1952
• The Eagles and Yellow Jackets did square off at the beginning of the 2021-22 season in an exhibition, with Boston College claiming a 4-1 victory
