Eagles Fall to No. 5 Stanford

Boston College fall in three sets to No. 5 Stanford
STANFORD, Calif.-- The Boston College Volleyball team fell to No. 5 Stanford with set scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 25-19 Saturday night. The Eagles moved to 8-10 overall and 1-5 in the ACC.
Sam Hoppes led the Eagles with nine kills, hitting a team high .429 percent. Halle Schroder and Audrey Ross each tallied six kills in the loss. Sophia Lambros dished out nine assists adding six digs.Â
Julia Haggerty led the night with six blocks, including two solo. Adding to her season total, putting her at 124 and 448 on her career.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1: BC worked to gain a 6-2 lead to open the match, but Stanford answered capturing eight of the next nine points to take a 11-8 advantage, continuing the momentum forcing a BC timeout at 19-10. The Eagles tallied multiple points, but the Cardinal closed out the set 25-13.
SET 2: The second set started like the first, the Eagles gained an early two point lead, as Stanford went on another long run taking a 11-5 lead, forcing a BC timeout. Schroder notched a kill out of the timeout, however the Cardinal went on a seven point run to take an 11 point lead. Stanford closed the set with three of the final four points to take the second frame, 25-13.Â
SET 3: The third set opened evenly matched with the score locking four times. However, Stanford began to regain the advantage. A two point run followed by a three point stretch moments later put the Cardinal up five, at the media timeout. The Eagles were able to get within four off of a Ross kill, 18-14, but Stanford capitalized on their first match-point, closing the match, 25-19.
