Sweep Bucknell in three sets; look for fifth win against UNH

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Volleyball (4-0, 0-0 ACC) continued its strong start to the season, grabbing its second win of the Boston College Invitational with a 3-0 (25-3, 25-14, 25-17) sweep over Bucknell (1-4, 0-0 Patriot).

The Eagles move to 4-1 all-time against the Bison, winning the last three contests and sweeping them in each one.

Audrey Ross reached double-figure kills for the fourth consecutive game, logging a game-high 15 on .481 hitting percentage. She also added a game-high of five blocks and 11 digs in another dominant performance. Lucie Vesela had her second-straight match with 14 assists, recording a service ace and five digs. Laney Blevins and Sam Hoppes recorded an additional five kills each, while Sofija Marjanovic matched a career-high three service aces in the victory.

The first set started with Boston College going on an 11-0 run, as Marjanovic recorded her three service aces, and Blevins and Ross added their first kills to force a Bucknell timeout. It was smooth sailing from there, as the Eagles would allow just three points over the course of the set. Ross continued with four more kills, while Hoppes scored a pair and Naomi Watson grabbed a kill of her own to give the hosts the first set by a score of 25-3.

Bucknell and Boston College traded points to open the second set before going on a mini scoring run to build a 10-5 advantage. They continued, forcing the Bison into multiple service and attacking errors to create a six-point lead at the media timeout. From there, four Eagles would combine for six kills to bring the lead to 21-14 and push them closer to earning the set. BC would finish with Ross' tenth kill and a trio of attacking errors from the visitors, taking the set, 25-14.

BC fell behind early in the third set, but Watson brought them back with back-to-back kills. The game remained tied in the early frames, but kills from Ross and Blevins helped the Eagles reclaim the lead and build a 15-10 cushion going into the media timeout. They then built out a 10-point edge after forcing the Bison into several errors, including Ross' 15^th kill of the contest. However, Bucknell wouldn't back down, going on a 5-0 run with match point in hand for the hosts. BC would prevail, though, taking the final set, 25-17.
