Move to 9-2 ahead of ACC play this upcoming weekend

HANOVER, N.H. – Boston College Volleyball (9-2, 0-0 ACC) fell to host Dartmouth (5-4, 0-0 Ivy League) in four sets (20-25, 14-25, 25-17, 20-25) on Sunday afternoon at Leede Arena to wrap up play at the Dartmouth Invitational.

Audrey Ross paced the Eagles with a match-high 17 kills, adding six digs and four total blocks. Sam Hoppes registered 12 kills on a .304 hitting percentage, while Reese Dunkle hit .714 with five kills and four blocks. Brooklyn Yelland led the defense with a match-high 21 digs, and Lucie Vesela posted a team-best 15 assists alongside seven digs. Ava McBride and Lucy Mott contributed eight assists apiece.

Boston College opened the first set with a kill from Ross, but Dartmouth responded with a run behind three service aces to build an early lead. The Eagles chipped away with kills from Sofija Marjanovic, Hoppes, and Ross, eventually bringing the set level at 20-20 following another Ross kill. However, the Big Green answered with a 5-0 closing run to take the opening set, 25-20.

Dartmouth carried momentum into the second frame, establishing an early lead before stretching it to 18-10 midway through the set. Kills from Ross and Hoppes helped BC fight back, but Dartmouth held off the Eagles' attack, capturing the set 25-14 to take a 2-0 match lead.

The Eagles responded strongly in the third set, racing out to a 3-0 start behind a Naomi Watson kill and a combined block from Watson and Ross. A 5-0 surge highlighted by a Ross service ace and kills from Hoppes and Watson extended their lead to 10-4. Boston College kept the pressure on with kills from Isabelle Poehlein and Dunkle to maintain control before taking the set, 25-17.

The fourth set featured back-and-forth action with seven ties through the middle rallies. Tied at 14-14, Dartmouth mounted an 8-2 run to pull ahead 22-16. Boston College saved three match points with kills from Watson and Ross along with a solo block by Ross to bring the score to 20-24, but Dartmouth clinched the set 25-20 to win the match.
