The Eagles fall to UVA 1-0 on Friday night at the Newton Soccer Complex
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – Boston College men's soccer suffered a 1-0 defeat in ACC play on Friday night to Virginia at the Newton Soccer Complex.Â
BC drops to 3-4-5 overall with a 0-4-2 league record while Virginia is now 5-4-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the ACC.Â
Christian Bejar led the Eagles with two shot attempts, including one on goal. Xavier O'Neil and CJ Williams both recorded a shot attempt each, while one of O'Neil's shots reached goal.Â
Goalkeeper Brennan Klein played all 90 minutes, finishing the game with 12 shots faced and one save. Â
The Eagles had the first chance of the game in the 13th minute when Bejar's shot was saved by Batrouni just outside the left side of the penalty box. The teams traded chances throughout the first half, but the score remained deadlocked going into the second half.Â
Boston College almost netted a game-tying goal in the 69th minute when Bejar played a cross through the box that just missed Michael Asare on the back post. Â
The Eagles continued to fight with less than two minutes to go when Marc Boye's header was cleared off the line by Batrouni and a Virginia defender in the 89th minute. The play was reviewed, and was ruled no-goal. Batrouni stopped another last second effort by the Eagles, as O'Neil took a point blank shot from just outside the box with 13 seconds left in the game.Â
