Conference Action Continues in California

BC is set to face Cal and No. 5 Stanford
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Boston College volleyball team (7-9, 0-4 ACC) is set to travel to the West Coast to continue conference play. The Eagles will face Cal (9-7, 1-3 ACC) on Friday Oct. 11 at 10:00 p.m. and Stanford (11-2, 3-1 ACC) on Saturday Oct. 12 at 10:00 p.m. This is both competitors' first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the matches will be featured on the ACC Network Extra.Â
The Eagles closed out its ACC home opener falling to No. 1 Pitt and No. 17 SMU in four and five sets respectively. The Eagles opened play Friday taking the first set, 25-23, breaking Pittsburgh's 36 straight set win streak. On Sunday afternoon the Eagles and Mustangs went to five sets, just the third time this season SMU has gone to five, and the second time for the Eagles.Â
Over the weekend Julia Haggerty and Halle Schroder led the Eagles each tallying 18 kills. Haggerty led the Eagles hitting a .405 clip adding 16 blocks averaging 2.22 blocks per set. Morgan Riddle led the back row with 16 digs. Four setters saw the floor adding 67 assists, Aubrey Moore led the squad with 20 assists averaging 2.86 per set.Â
The Eagles meet the Golden Bears for the first all-time meeting Friday at the Haas Pavilion. Cal has kicked-off its first ACC season, 1-3 in conference play. The Golden Bears fell to No.5 Louisville and Wake Forest in three sets, and fell to Notre Dame in four. Cal swept NC State this past weekend at the Haas Pavilion for its first win in the ACC.
In the Eagle's next match, BC will face Stanford after last meeting the team in 2005 in the Eagles first ever Boston College Invitational falling to the Cardinals in three sets. Stanford has kicked off its first ACC season 3-1 in conference play defeating Notre Dame and NC State in four sets and sweeping Wake Forest. While falling to No. 5 Louisville in three sets.Â
Following the West Coast trip the Eagles return back to Chestnut Hill, hosting Florida State (Fri. Oct. 18, 7:00 p.m.) and Miami (Sun. Oct. 20, 1:00 p.m.).
