
Eagles' Rally Falls Short at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Eagles' rally fell short in a 71-64 setback to No. 25 Syracuse on Sunday evening inside the JMA Wireless Dome.
The Eagles fall to 9-7 and 1-2 in the ACC, while the Orange improve to 12-2 and 2-1 in league action.
Teya Sidberry and Dontavia Waggoner led the Eagles in scoring with 12 points. Both players also recorded six rebounds and three steals.
Andrea Daley registered eight points and set career highs in assists (5), steals (5) and grabbed five boards. T'yana Todd scored 11 with three rebounds and two assists.
Kaylah Ivey rounded out the leading scorers with eight. Lili Krasovec tied for the team lead with six rebounds.
Trailing by as much as 20 in the second half, BC made things interesting in the fourth as an 11-2 run to start the fourth quarter sliced the lead to seven. The Orange was able to hold onto the lead, and despite leading by nine with under a minute left, 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions brought the deficit to five. But Syracuse pulled out the win at the free-throw line.
It was a defensive battle in the first quarter, with both teams shooting under 35 percent from the field. The Eagles forced Syracuse to miss its first eight shots of the game, while BC took an early 10-4 lead. Sidberry and Daley scored all 10 points in the first quarter before 'Cuse ended the frame on a 7-0 run.
Todd and Sidberry scored six straight points to give the Eagles a 16-13 lead after 'Cuse hit the first field goal of the second period. The hosts responded by capturing a nine-point lead by going on a 4-of-6 stretch. BC trailed 32-22 going into the half after a Waggoner free throw.
The Orange started the third period on a 9-0 run, while keeping BC at bay on offense. Daley and Waggoner scored back-to-back field goals to slice the lead to 14 going into the fourth.
Boston College returns to action on Thursday against Notre Dame at 7 p.m. in South Bend.
