Eagle Set to Return at the New Balance Collegiate Showdown

Eagles will compete in 13 total events on Saturday
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College Men's and Women's Track and Field teams return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 as they compete at the 2024 New Balance Collegiate Showdown at the TRACK at new balance.Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Eagles opened up the 2023-24 Indoor Track and Field season with two meets on Saturday, Dec. 2 in Boston. The Men's and Women's teams competed at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener meet at Boston University, as well as the Suffolk Relays at the TRACK at new balance.
SHARON COLYEAR-DANVILLE SEASON OPENER
The Eagles competed at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season opener at Boston University against some of the top schools and athletes in the region and the country. Boston College had at least one athlete compete in a total of 14 running events throughout the meet. The Eagles had 16 top-ten placements in the events that they took part in, which includes eight top-five finishes, four top-two finishes, and one first place finish. The Eagles also broke five school records, and had seven times that are top-ten in school program history. Â
On the Men's side Junior Eddie Kelly led the Eagles with the highest placement at the meet, placing first overall in the Men's 600 run with a time of (1:19.25). Kelly's time of 1:19.25 gave him the school record for the Men's 600m. Junior Peter Fox set the school record for the Men's 5K (14:07.32), and Sophomore Damon Frabotta set the school record for the Men's 300m (34.11).
On the Women's Side, Freshmen Yaroslava Yalysovetska and Kylee Bernard led the way for the Eagles, both finishing second in their events. Yalysovetska finished with a time of 1:30.11 in the Women's 600 run, which gives her the school record in this event. Bernard completed the Women's 300 run with a time of 39.16, which also gives her the school record. Â

SUFFOLK RELAYSÂ
The Eagles competed at the Suffolk Relays at the TRACK at new balance against some of the top schools in the region. Boston College had at least one athlete compete in three running events and two field events on the day.
Junior Molly FitzPatrick led the Eagles on the day with a top place finish in the Women's 3000m run. FitzPatrick finished with a time of 10:08.29, which was 14 seconds ahead of second place Madeline Till from the University of Rhode Island (10:22.36).Â
The Eagles earned two top 10 finishes in the Women's 1000m run with junior Gabrielle Bachiochi (3:03.86) crossing the finish line in third place, and Senior Caroline Fleming placing sixth overall with a time of 3:07.18.Â
Sophomore Erin Finley competed in the Women's 60m Hurdles prelims. Finley finished in 24th place with a time of 10.28. Finley also competed in the Women's Long Jump. She placed 23rd overall with a score of 4.77m, 15' 7¾.Â
Lila Belsher shined in the Women's High Jump, placing sixth overall out of 25 jumpers. The Senior finished with a score of 1.55m, 5' 1", which was one of the best scores throughout the meet.Â

The Eagles return from semester break and continue the 2023-24 Indoor Track and Field on Saturday, Jan. 18 as they compete at the 2024 New Balance Collegiate showdown at the TRACK at new balance.Â
The New Balance Collegiate Showdown will feature top teams and athletes from across the country. There will be 17 running events along with 12 field events throughout the day, with Boston College having a participant in 13 of these events.Â
The Eagles will compete in the Men's and Women's 60m sprint, Men's and Women's 400m, Men's and Women's 200m, Men's and Women's 4x400m relay, Women's High Jump, Women's Weight Throw, Women's Shot Put, Women's Mile, and Women's 800m.
